CIUPL has the pleasure in offering Micraflo Pigments for the Coating / Plastic applications, from our overseas Principal - M/s Johnson Matthey Ceramics ( Asia ) Pvt. Ltd., Singapore.

MICRAFLO PIGMENTS - 38 Series : Introduction

Johnson Matthey Pigments and Dispersions, part of the Johnson Matthey Ceramics and Materials Division, manufacturers an extensive range of high quality products for use in applications including ; printing inks, surface coatings, cosmetics, building materials and plastics.

Micraflo leads the new generation of colorants for the rigid PVC industry and provides significant benefits in the manufacturing of drainage and rainwater products, as well as window and cladding profiles.

Uniform Free – Flowing Micro Beads

Micraflo has a regular shape and controlled size distribution which results in both improved accuracy of colour addition when metering volumetrically and a more uniform dry blend from a batch mixing process.

Micraflo, launched in 1997, is a “Clean and Free Flowing” colourant for the rigid PVC industry.

This patented system was developed at U.K.headquarters with the support of Johnson Mattheys central research facilities.Historically PVC has been coloured using dry pigment blends. The need to improve factory hygiene and reduce equipment cleandown costs has led to an increased use of “Clean and Free Flowing” pigment dispersions.

headquarters with the support of Johnson Mattheys central research facilities.Historically PVC has been coloured using dry pigment blends. The need to improve factory hygiene and reduce equipment cleandown costs has led to an increased use of “Clean and Free Flowing” pigment dispersions.

Dispersions can be based on wax or polymeric type carriers, each having particular effects.

As part of the development of Micraflo, an extensive investigation into the colouring of rigid PVC, from both rheological and physical characteristics was carried out. Due to the complex nature of PVC stabilisation and lubrication it was found that any addition of colourant, either as pigment or dispersion, had a significant effect on both the melt rheology and the products physical properties.

A small section from this research has been compiled to demonstrate the key processing features associated with PVC colouration. This examination was carried out using a torque rheometer coupled to a laboratory scale twin screw extruder equipped with calibration and hauloff.
