The Timbasol dispersions colour palette is based on high performance inorganic and organic pigments, which provide maximum durability and lightfastness.

All natural wood tones and decorative colour shades whether transparent, semi - transparent or opaque can be achieved from the Timbasol dispersion range.









The natural wood tones are obtained by a combination of transparent iron oxide pigment and carbon black pigment dispersions tinted by other dispersions as required.

Whereas bright decorative colour shades are obtained by individual or combinations of the organic pigment dispersions.

Transparent Iron Oxides - Functional Use In Wood Coating

Colour and Transparency

The Johnson Matthey Trans - Oxide pigment range comprises of yellow, red and also a unique brown pigment. Blends of these pigments with carbon black enables the colour matcher to achieve the complete natural wood colour palette from bright pine, through oak and mahogany to ebony.

The particle size of transparent iron oxide pigments is typically 100 nm by
10 nm to 20 nm and the particle shape is acicular. When fully dispersed transparent iron oxide pigments do not scatter light and are completely transparent. This transparency allows the natural beauty of wood to show through.

Chemical Stability and Weathering

Transparent iron oxide pigments have excellent fastness to solvents, are
non - bleeding and non - migratory. They are resistant to acids and alkalis.

Transparent iron oxide pigments are ideal for exterior applications due to their excellent lightfastness and weatherfastness.

UV Absorption

Transparent iron oxide pigments are strong absorbers of ultraviolet radiation, which can be damaging to resin systems and wood substrates. Even low levels of transparent iron oxide provide protection from UV light degradation.
