TIMBASOL - DISPERSIONS FOR WOOD COATINGS : Technical Info
Wood Coatings are applied to provide decoration and protection to the surface of wood. Finishes include transparent, semi - transparent, opaque, clear and coloured varnishes, which can be either impregnation woodstains or film forming coatings. Impregnation stains are absorbed into the wood substrate, film forming coatings remain on the wood surface.
Formulations contain UV absorbers, fungicides and biocides for wood protection.
The constituents of wood coatings typically include: -
- Pigment dispersions - to provide colour and protection.
- Binder - film forming resin.
- Solvent - water, white spirit, oil.
- Additives - for protection, application and storage stability.

Wood Coating Manufacture
Timbasol dispersions are simply stirred into the concentrated resin solution by a paddle - type mixer.
Where volume manufacture requires large production batch sizes bulk raw material storage and in-factory tinting systems may be used.
