High Performance Wax Additives For the Ink, Paint and Coatings Industries.
Micro Powders, Inc. offers a complete range of micronized waxes for use as additives for the printing ink, paint and coatings industries.
All grades can be readily added using high – speed mixing equipment. The finer particle size grades can be added directly. However, the larger particle size grades may require a pre – dispersion for best results. The products described below have been designed to impart maximum rub resistance, abrasion resistance and slip without the need for prior melting or grinding.
SYNTHETIC WAXES – for lubricity and economy
These products are based upon straight chain hydrocarbon synthetic waxes produced by the Fischer – Tropsch process. All the synthetic waxes will provide excellent slip and rub properties. They are economical and cost effective in most ink, paint and coating systems.
POLYETHYLENE WAXES – for rub and mar resistance
The polyethylene grades have been formulated to provide maximum rub and mar resistance as well as gloss retention and anti – blocking properties. They are versatile, have excellent recoatibility and allow for higher processing temperature when compared to synthetic waxes.
AQUA WAXES – for water based applications
Micronized AQUA waxes are specifically modified for use in water reducible inks, paints and coatings. AQUAWAX 114 and 214 are hard, high melt point micronized synthetic waxes for aqueous systems. AQUAPOLY 250 is a harder, higher-density polymer and will impart excellent rub and mar resistance while eliminating wax flotation and defoamer kickout.
AQUAPOLYFLUO 411 contain PTFE for increased lubricity, gloss retention and heat resistance. AQUAPOLYSILK 19 includes softer waxes for improved surface lubricity and tape release in water based inks and coatings. AQUAPOLY 235 is an economical polyethylene wax for water-borne applications.
AQUABEAD WAXES – for water repellency and moisture resistance
The AQUABEAD powders and emulsions are specifically formulated to produce a water “beading” effect in solvent or aqueous paints, stains and coatings. AQUABEAD grades are designed to impart a fast and long-lasting, water-repelling effect.
MICROSPERSION WAXES – aqueous wax dispersions
The MICROSPERSION products are aqueous dispersions of Micro Powders’ micronized waxes designed for ease of incorporation and optimum performance efficiency. The MICROSPERSION grades allow the formulator to use highly efficient micronized waxes in a liquid form. Many of Micro Powders’ most popular grades have been incorporated into the MICROSPERSION line allowing the formulator a wide selection of products to choose from.
POLYFLUO WAXES – for maximum slip and abrasion resistance
The POLYFLUO grades are unique combinations of Polyethylene waxes and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Due to their high degree of toughness as well as lubricity, the POLYFLUO grades will provide an excellent combination of properties and increased formulation flexibility for the ink or coatings manufacturer. POLYFLUO`s unique formulation maximizes performance efficiency from its components when used in low viscosity systems.
SYNFLUO WAXES – for maximum slip and abrasion resistance
SYNFLUO waxes are special combinations of synthetic wax and PTFE which are designed to impart a high level of surface lubricity and scratch resistance when added into printing inks, paints and coatings. SYNFLUO waxes are especially recommended for use in high gloss lacquers, can coatings and powder coatings.
POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE ( PTFE )
The FLUO grades are micronized PTFE and are mainly used in combination with micronized waxes to achieve higher surface lubricity and aniti - blocking properties. These products are heat resistant and insoluble.
MICROPRO & MATTE WAXES – for uniform matting and anti-blocking properties
The Micropro and Propylmatte grades are polypropylene waxes that are characterized by their high melt point and toughness. They exhibit excellent anti-blocking and gloss control properties while improving metal marking resistance. These products can help suspend silica additives and will provide a non-abrasive, smooth surface.
The MICROPRO 440 W grade is specifically formulated for water reducible systems. PROPYLMATTE 31 will provide optimum matting and gloss control characteristics to paints and coatings including UV systems. MICROMATTE 2000 has been specifically designed for powder coatings as a gloss reduction additive.
PROPYLTEX WAXES – for texture and gloss control
The PROPYLTEX grades are micronized polypropylene waxes which will provide a unique textured surface to paints and coatings. The particle size is carefully controlled to provide a uniform texture.
SUPERSLIP & SYNSLIP WAXES – for lubricity without PTFE
The SUPERSLIP and SYNSLIP grades are designed for use in applications where maximum lubricity and blocking resistance are required. These grades will provide gloss control, lubricity and scratch resistance to surface coatings without the use of PTFE. The SUPERSLIP and SYNSLIP products will impart an excellent "feel" or smoothness to the coating.
POLYSILK & MICROKLEAR WAXES
Polysilk Waxes - for improved slip and tape release.
MicroKlear Waxes – for abrasion resistance with gloss retention and clarity
These modified polyethylene waxes will provide a combination of toughness, abrasion and blocking resistance while imparting surface lubricity to the coating. The POLYSILK grades are formulated with softer wax polymers to provide a smooth feel and optimum lubricity as well as reduce or eliminate the need for silicones. The MICROKLEAR grades are ideally suited for use in areas where excellent gloss and clarity are required.
SPECIALITY WAXES
Micro Powders also produces speciality grades for a wide variety of end uses. These products range from HANDY TACK 140, which is a micronized hydrocarbon resin, to finely micronized amide waxes such as the MICROMIDE 528. POLYBLEND 100 XF is a unique blend of micronized polyethlyene and PTFE waxes.
